Andrea Dávila Signs With The Citadel

On March 30, 2012, Andrea Dávila, a senior at McAllen's Rowe High School, signed a National Letter of Intent to attend The Citadel in South Carolina and play NCAA Division 1 soccer. Andrea's soccer journey began in the McAllen Youth Soccer Association (MYSA) headed by Gary Hamilton and competitively with the Border Bandits G95 trained by Albert Flores. Pictured with Andrea are members of the Rio Valley Youth Soccer Association community who provided invaluable assistance to Andrea during her high school years - George Castañeda. Joe Bazan, and Mike Saenz. From MYSA and onward, all individuals and organizations have been instrumental in growing the sport of soccer and providing for the continued development of players in South Texas. Congratulations to Andrea and Rio Valley Youth Soccer with well wishes for continued success.

Alliance Spring 2012 Schedules

Here are the links to the Spring 2012 Alliance schedules. These are a work in progress and will be activated of the coming hours as things get finished and pushed out. Even after they are fully published, coaches need to check back often throughout the season to watch for any changes.
D2 & S2 Season Delayed One Week

The Alliance Spring Season, Jeffords Cup and Rio Valley Travel League matches will be delayed until March 3 & 4, 2012. Due to several factors completion of the schedules would not have been accomplished in time to give Clubs, Teams, and Refs proper time to prepare for games this weekend. It is best to set the schedule back one week and ensure things are done properly, we hope you understand. Schedules will be posted here as soon as possible.
Coaches Meeting for Spring 2012

Coaching Meeting for the Under 9 & 10 Rec Plus Teams and the Under 11 - 14 Travel Teams is scheduled for Wednesday, February 15, 2012 beginning at 7:00 PM. The team coach or a representative must attend. Teams registered for the STYSA Spring Cups do not have to attend.
The meeting will be held at the Americas Best Value Inn & Suites, 2597 W. Business 77 Bldg. C, San Benito, Texas 78586 behing CC Wings.
Directions from the lower valley, exit on Paso Real off of Expressway 77/83 and turn right (east) to Business 77. Turn left (north) on Business 77 and the Hotel is on the left hand side.
Directions from the upper valley, exit on Ed Carey Drive off of Expressway 77/83 and turn left under the overpass and continue to Business 77. At Business 77 turn right (south) and the Hotel is on the right hand side.

Referee Certification/Re-Cert Clinic

This weekend, January 28-29, referee certification and re-certification clinics will be held at Brownsville's St. Joseph's Academy. The fee is $ 85.00. No other clinics are planned until the late summer. Registration must be on-line prior to the cut off date. Registration is at STSR's website
